International Hair Stylist and Salon Owner Jessica Pintia

Jessica is an entrepreneur and talented hair stylist located in Chicago, IL. After many years in the hair styling industry, she opened her own salon in West Town, Salon JP, and continues to travel the globe making clients look wonderful. She is not only a thriving business owner but also the coolest mom to the cutest 5 year old you have ever seen.

We have been a fan of Jessica (we call her Jess, feel free to as well) since our very first encounter with her in 2013. 2013 and beyond, our hair has been flawless and she has been killing it creating her best life. Dig in below to hear how this fearless woman took the leap to start her own company, has a continuous connection with unicorns and begins each day to the mantra, 'Rise & Slay'.

Introduce yourself!

Hey everyone! Jessica Pintia here, writing you from my Lyft aka my “quiet office” as I make my daily commute to my salon. I have been a stylist downtown Chicago for the past 14 years.... and now a proud female business owner/lady boss starting in 2018 with the opening of my first salon in West Town.

I grew up in a little farm town outside of Chicago... since a young age my soul was screaming to get out as fast as I possibly could.... and head to the big city. It's here in the noisy, hectic streets of Chicago, that I found the way to feed my soul and my passions. After 15 years in the city, I now reside in a high-rise in River North with "My Team"....my vivacious 5 year old daughter Emma and my supportive (and amazingly sculpted) personal trainer husband, Alex. I've never been more proud of the life that I've cultivated in this crazy, chaotic city called home.

Why did you start your own company or brand/become an entrepreneur/be your own boss?

I've always loved doing things "different" than most. I like to challenge conventional wisdom and to those who have said to me  “you should do this”...I simply smile, follow my heart and blaze my own path. It motivates me every day to meet and overcome new obstacles. And to all of those doubters.... I can proudly say I have now successfully raised my daughter downtown as a single Mom (until I met Alex) while taking on the challenge of opening my own business.  I live by the mantra now proudly displayed as a neon in my salon "Rise and Slay."

I knew I was ready for the challenge of becoming an entrepreneur....most importantly, I truly believed in myself. After 14 years of professional experience in a well-established Gold Coast salon, I was ready to stop attributing my hard work and successes to someone else. After a very lucky opportunity and connection was presented through my husband’s Romanian social network (and the very hard work and labor of love of his family).... Salon JP was born in 2018.

What is the first thing you do after waking up to jumpstart a successful day?

Snuggle with my 5 year old daughter, Emma. She indulges in cartoons and I indulge in finding inspiration through instagram fashion/style.

What person in history, living or dead, has inspired you and how?

Audrey Hepburn. Her combination of spunk and fashion. I love sharing her quotes with clients and on social media.

If this wasn't your job, what's something else you've always wanted to do/start/create?

I honestly have wanted to be a hairstylist since I was 6 years old, so if I wasn’t, I would probably be lost and miserable in any other job. I'm so lucky to have found my calling and true passion.

Let's Get Deep...

What emoji(s) do you use most when texting?

 🙃🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Go-to cocktail?

Spicy tequila soda and lime (married to a trainer.....gotta keep up and keep tight!)

What book are you currently reading?

I am reading Uni the Unicorn about every night lol.

Go-to favorite shopping destination and/or garment?

Aritzia! All my friends and clients know that’s pretty much everything I own. But always feel a little fancier when I add my gold Chanel Earrings into the mix. Who doesn't?!

What is your signature scent?

La Labo “The Noir”. Love how they customize their bottles!

Early riser or night owl.

Once upon a time....I used to be a night owl. It was the only time to myself that I had after a long day of work and after my daughter fell asleep. Fast-forward to 2020, where I’m married to a very dedicated personal trainer that goes to bed at the same time as my toddler. I've given up my night owl ways in exchange for very important alone time and cuddles in bed with my husband before he falls asleep 😉
